Michelle Gorre - TCF 2004-2005

Michelle became intrigued with Argentine Tango in the spring of 1999 and within a few years was a principal dancer for Sacramento’s Los Tangueros Dance Company, directed by her teacher and mentor, Debbie Goodwin. In 2004, Michelle joined Debbie and three other extraordinary San Francisco Tangueras in co-founding the collaborative, all-female dance group, Tango Con*Fusión. In 2006 Michelle co-created La alterNATIVA, an organization that provided Sacramento Tango dancers with innovative dance experiences.
Michelle has retired from teaching tango, but still enjoys dancing socially at Milongas from time to time. Michelle currently devotes her time to perpetuating Hawaiian culture and dance at Kūhai Hālau O Kaponookalani Pā ‘Ōlapa Kahiko, a hula dance school in South Sacramento. She recently performed at the Polynesian Cultural Center during the annual Moanikeala Hula Festival in Lāʻie, Hawaii.
